Dominican Coffee industry showcases its products at Specialty Coffee Expo 2023.
The Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana) presented the products of the Dominican coffee export offer at the Specialty Coffee Expo 2023 international fair in Portland, Oregon in the United States, together with the Dominican Coffee Institute (Indocafé).
According to the statement, the event is designed for industry professionals to showcase their products and services, and at the same time, improve their knowledge and skills.
During the exhibition, industry professionals connected with producers, importers, and baristas, with the purpose of forming new commercial relationships with coffee buyers and sellers from different countries.
ProDominicana coordinates the participation of the coffee sector so that coffee industry professionals can exhibit their products and services to the US market.
The Dominican delegation was represented by the national network manager, Francisco Peña, the international business executive, Raiza Rodríguez, both from ProDominicana, and the executive director of the Dominican Coffee Institute, Leónidas Batista Díaz.
Peña indicated that the US market is one of the largest consumers in the world and presents many opportunities for Dominican coffee. He reiterated that "we are very excited to be able to connect even more with them, and in that sense, we have been taking actions in the market over the years with a view to continuing to increase our exports to this important market."
Coffee exports
According to statistics, Dominican coffee exports totaled $30.9 million during 2022, representing a year-on-year increase of 194%. In addition, exports of raw and decaffeinated coffee increased from $3.4 million in 2021 to $4.8 million for the 2022 period.
Currently, the Dominican Republic has 193 coffee and substitute exporting companies.
The Dominican stand exhibited coffee products grown in Dominican lands with their derivatives such as green, roasted, ground coffee, and special presentation of green coffee from the province of Barahona.
Stand visits
According to estimates, the country's stand accumulated a total of 6,400 visits during the three days of the presentation. In that sense, the companies that accompanied the Dominican delegation in Specialty Coffee were:
